As evidenced by articles elsewhere on this website the ACA committee that focuses on sustainability in corrections and that was the catalyst for the creation of GreenPrisons, Inc. achieved a milestone this year. As noted elsewhere, the Clean and Green Committee became the Sustainability-Oriented and Environmentally Responsible Practices Committee as a result of the recent ACA elections.
More importantly the membership of ACA, recognizing the importance sustainability has achieved in correctional practice, designated the Sustainability Committee as a standing committee. This decision by the membership ensures that this committee and the issues it address will remain a part of the fiber of ACA going forward.
GreenPrisons felt that such a noteworthy accomplishment could and should not go unnoticed. With the assistance of some of the corporate supporters of sustainability in corrections GreenPrisons will host a brief reception and recognition of the occasion during the Committee’s regular meeting at the ACA Winter Conference. All registered conference participants are invited to join committee members and members of ACA’s leadership for this brief recognition event at 1:30 pm, Saturday, January 21 in room 302B of the convention center.
GreenPrisons wants to personally acknowledge the support and contributions of the following:
Ralph Daniels of Aquawing Ozone Laundry Systems, Bill Freitje of Easywater, Caryn Stets of CorrectPac, Ray Elliott of I-Con and Chuck Hoppe of NORESCO.
