Join GreenPrisons On The Road

Join GreenPrisons as we visit two of the largest correctional conferences in the country! Beginning with the Southern States Correctional Association (SSCA) annual conference in Baton Rouge, LA July 21-25 and culminating with the American Correctional Association’s (ACA) annual Congress of Corrections August 4-8. GreenPrisons will be there on the Green Aisle at both events as well as participating in a variety of workshops on sustainability at both conferences. Plan now to attend, and be sure and stop by the GreenPrisons booth and say HI!!

Have you ever heard of anyone going to Louisiana and not having a good time? Well. Neither have we! Everyone here at GreenPrisons is looking forward to a great conference in Baton Rouge beginning with registration and hospitality on the evening of the 20th leading into a tour of Louisiana’s historic Angola penitentiary on Saturday for those who sign up early.

The Lefty Thomas Golf Tournament tees off bright and early Sunday morning with the proceeds going to support many of SSCA’s various philanthropic programs.

The conference starts in earnest Sunday night with opening ceremonies and your first chance to visit the exhibit hall. For the first time Southern States is featuring a Green Aisle and you are encouraged to come and visit exhibitors with the latest in sustainable products and technology designed to save money and provide work and learning opportunities for inmates,

Workshops on Monday and Tuesday will have many interesting presenters and informative topics. Check out the SSCA website for a full conference agenda and a list of workshops and times. You can go to the website here: http://www.sscaweb.org/events

Join GreenPrisons as we visit The 148th Congress of Corrections kicks off Friday, August 3rd and runs through August 8th. The Sustainability Committee meets on Saturday, August 4th at 1:00 PM in the Convention Center. All registered participants and exhibitors are encouraged to attend. The subcommittees will continue the work they started in January in Orlando, with particular focus on ways to improve participation in the Green Aisle, Standards revisions and adapting the EPA dashboard for corrections. Your participation is critical.

The Green Aisle will once again have several exhibitors who have sustainable technology and products for conference attendees to check out. If you’re coming to the conference this is one thing you don’t want to miss.

The program will also contain six solid workshops on topics that will appeal to jail and prison practitioners alike.

There is still time to register by going to the ACA website at www.ACA.org. Come see GreenPrisons in booth 500 on the Green Aisle.
