Steve Tussey, retired Safety Administrator of the Federal Bureau of Prisons has joined GreenPrisons as their top advisor on all things related to chemicals, safety, OSHA compliance and EPA guidelines. As Safety Administrator for the Bureau, Tussey was responsible for implementing many new programs throughout the Bureau’s 122 institutions most significantly he implemented the first formal agreement between the Bureau of Prisons and the Occupational, Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) that resulted in all of the Bureau’s Safety managers across the country being certified as OSHA instructors.
Tussey has continued his work in corrections since retirement working as a consultant on safety issues around the country. He also teaches the Correctional Safety Course, the only one of its kind in the nation, at Eastern Kentucky University.
He is a member of the American Correctional Association, the American Jail Association, and the North American Association of Wardens and Superintendents.
